Daily Routine – Pre-Shift Inspection Checklist
Ten minutes of inspection before starting can prevent 80% of breakdowns.
Oil Check: Pull the dipstick. Ensure the oil level is between the marks. If low, add CF-grade diesel engine oil (15W-40 for summer, 10W-30 for winter). Note: The XHT3000 (3-cyl diesel) requires higher quality oil.
Fuel Check: Verify sufficient fuel. For gasoline models (XHT500-XHT1200), ensure the cap is tight and lines are leak-free. For the XHT3000 diesel, bleed air from the fuel lines if necessary.
Undercarriage/Tires: Inspect rubber tracks for cracks, missing lugs, or excessive wear. Track tension should be moderate (sag typically 20-30mm). Check XHT3000 tire pressure and lug nut tightness.
Hydraulics: Check hydraulic fluid level. Look for leaks at fittings and cylinder seals.
Controls: Test lift, lower, and rotation (if equipped). Listen for abnormal noises.

Periodic Service – Maximizing Component Life
Beyond daily checks, adhere to hour-based intervals.
Air Filter Cleaning (Every 50 Hours): Dusty sites (cement plants, mines) clog filters quickly. Remove and clean with compressed air (blowing from the inside out). Do not brush the paper element. Replace if heavily soiled.
Hydraulic Oil Change (First 100 Hours, then every 500 Hours): Hydraulic oil is the lifeblood. Change the first oil at 100 hours to flush break-in debris. Thereafter, change every 500 hours or annually. Use AW46 anti-wear hydraulic oil. Keep fill ports clean to block contaminants.
Track Tension (Monthly): Tracks stretch over time. Too loose causes de-tracking; too tight increases wear and fuel burn. Adjust the tensioner until sag is correct.
Lubrication (Weekly): The manual emphasizes "grease nipples." Weekly, inject lithium-based grease into all pivots and joints until fresh grease purges the old. This prevents dry wear and extends bushing life.
Troubleshooting – DIY Fixes for Minor Issues
Stay calm. Follow these steps to potentially save on service calls.
Hard Starting
Cause: Out of fuel; clogged air filter; fouled spark plug (gas); dead battery.
Fix: Refuel; clean/replace air filter; clean spark plug; charge/replace battery.
Slow or No Hydraulic Lift
Cause: Low hydraulic fluid; overheating (overload); relief valve set too low; cylinder bypass.
Fix: Add fluid; cool down; adjust relief valve; replace seals.
Frequent De-tracking
Cause: Loose tracks; worn drive sprocket; jamming on sharp rocks.
Fix: Adjust tension; replace sprocket; clear debris from track guides.
Poor Movement
Cause: Slipping clutch (manual); worn hydraulic pump; low engine power.
Fix: Adjust clutch cable; service pump; check filters.
Seasonal Care & Long-Term Storage
Winter Care: Below 0°C, prevent freezing. Check coolant strength (XHT3000). Use winter-blend diesel. For long storage, drain water jackets (unless using antifreeze).
Long-Term Storage (>1 Month): Retract hydraulic cylinders and coat rods with grease. Store indoors, covering electronics. Disconnect the battery, store charged, and top up monthly.
Corrosion Prevention: Wash mud off tracks/frames after use. Immediately clean off fertilizers or salt to prevent chemical corrosion.
The Importance of Genuine Parts
Cheap aftermarket parts are a false economy.
Hydraulic Filters: Poor filtration allows particulates to score pumps, valves, and cylinders. Repair costs dwarf filter savings.
Tracks: Inferior rubber cracks and loses lugs. Traction suffers, creating safety hazards.
Engine Parts: Non-OEM injectors or plungers cause poor combustion and engine damage.
